Why Men Should do Pilates

There are many reasons why Men Should do Pilates:

  • Strengthen Your Abdominal Core Musculature
    Looks are important, but a stronger back, reduced back pain, spinal support, are some the benefits of Pilates training. First, lets talk about looks. Having a six-pack looks great but only when you have a slim waistline to go with the six-pack. Strong obliques and deep transversus abdominis muscles provide you with that narrow waistline. Of course, diet and low body fat must be in place. The six pack forms when you train your superficial rectus abdominis muscle that runs up and down the abdomen, not the sides. However, overtraining this muscle might cause muscle imbalances and your deeper muscles may still remain weak. Pilates exercise still trains your superficial muscles so that you can enjoy the six-pack look, but classical
  • Pilates preferentially recrtuits the deeper layers, so that you can strengthen from the deep core. This in turn this helps reduce the size of your waistline by giving you a corset-effect, as the fibres run horizontally and obliquely around your waist. Moreover, these deeper muscles help support your lower back and may help in reducing back pain.

What kind of Pilates do we teach?

We teach the classical Pilates repertoire. We are an independent studio offering STOTT PILATES® equipment and methodology. We offer Pilates Reformer Classes London W11, just a few minutes away from Kensington.
STOTT PILATES® incorporates modern exercise principles, and applies proven and accepted practices in bio mechanics, rehabilitation and athletic performance enhancement. Our instructors are fully certified STOTT Pilates. Unlike many other Pilates studios in the area which train their instructors in-house on a quickie weekend course, our instructors have achieved full certification from a worldwide education institution, taking months and sometimes years of training.

Our method incorporates  new information as research evolves in sports science and physical therapy, but also preserves the original exercises from the classical Pilates method. The results speak for themselves. The difference is profound. Many other studios in London offer boot camp style circuit classes that teach you a few mono-planal moves and time you on a stopwatch while you repetitively workout to sweat. Pilates is completely different. The difficulty comes from the complexity of the exercises, the concentration, coordination, body awareness, body control, precision, fluidity. Intelligent exercise.

Small Classes means that you get the attention you deserve. Most studios have 10 reformer beds. Our classes have 5 at most. They feel like semi private sessions.
