Solid Foundations. Learn our technique properly in this essential Pilates Classical Repertoire class, but be prepared to workout. This is not an easy class nor an orientation class, but a true workout through the essential Pilates repertoire. Please note that this is NOT a dynamic reformer class.
This class is recommended if:
- If you are not familiar with exercises like the “One Hundred, Short Spine, elephant, Stomach massage, Long stretch, etc”. You might want to book this class as the intermediate classes will not be teaching these basic exercises.
- you have never done Pilates exercise before, its been a long time, or you do not know the basic classical Pilates repertoire.
- you have only done dynamic Pilates before (no matter how advanced or how many years you’ve been practicing “boot camp” style dynamic Pilates). You will need to learn the proper classical exercises before you progress to the intermediate classical level.
- if you are not familiar with the classical STOTT PILATES® essential repertoire and method. See our Five basic principles.
This class will give you a strong base so that you can progress to the more complicated, more choreographed intermediate exercises. We will cover the basic principles more in depth and teach you the preparations for the more advanced exercises of the classical repertoire. Get to know the basic repertoire and principles before you sign up for the intermediate level classes.
Please note that this class is completely different from Dynamic Reformer classes. This is a classical Pilates based class.
No matter how advanced in “dynamic style” reformer you are, we strongly recommend that you join an Essential class so that you can become familiar with the unique classical Pilates repertoire.
Learn the intermediate repertoire in this class. This class will flow, covering the already familiar essential repertoire, while inserting intermediate exercises and at times stopping to explain them in order to learn them properly. We will teach and break down complex intermediate exercises for those people who have a solid foundation on the Essential repertoire and are ready to progress and learn the intermediate repertoire. This class will bridge the gap between Essential and intermediate levels without going too fast through the complex choreography of the intermediate level Pilates repertoire.
This is a classical Pilates based intermediate level class. Class participants are expected to posses a solid foundation in the Essential technique. This class will flow at a faster pace through the classical repertoire and the instructor will not be able to stop to teach the basic repertoire or technique.
Please note that although you may be very advanced at “bootcamp” Dynamic style Pilates, this classical pilates reformer class is completely different to what you are used to. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you are fully familiar with the essential classical Pilates repertoire and our technique before signing into this class. We expect participants to possess a solid foundation of the STOTT PILATES® Five basic principles before signing up for the intermediate level classes. This class will challenge any Pilates enthusiast and it is powered by the most versatile and innovative MERRITHEW™ Pilates reformer equipment.
*STOTT PILATES® is a contemporary approach to the original exercise method pioneered by the late Joseph Pilates
This class will introduce you to some of the advanced classical repertoire exercises while helping you perfect your technique in the more complex intermediate exercises. This class flows through the classical transitions and will cover the intermediate repertoire plus tap into many of the advanced classical Pilates exercises. Our instructors will not have time to stop to teach any of the the intermediate repertoire in this class, so we strongly recommend that you are very familiar with the classical intermediate repertoire.
If you suffer from any injuries we recommend that you contact us before signing in to this class as many exercises will go into full and end range spinal movements, shoulder movements and very few modifications will be given in order to keep the flow of the advanced repertoire.
The Intermediate/Advanced reformer is for those Pilates enthusiasts with a minimum of 20 intermediate reformer classes under their belts and ready for more challenging advanced, complicated classical reformer exercises, whilst also perfecting their Pilates technique. Our instructors will lead you through a complete body workout with more challenging, advanced reformer exercises that will challenge the most advanced client. You must be confident with the intermediate classical repertoire and know the STOTT PILATES® basic principles to join, otherwise you might feel left behind.
